• Josh Matthias
    Co-founder, CEO

    Josh is a lifelong Philadelphian who has been building software for private-money lenders for the last seven years. In 2008 he teamed up with Matt Crane to develop a comprehensive software solution for Havestock, a real estate backed lending organization. That effort led to the formation of Lacoda. Josh graduated from Rochester in 2007 with a B.A. Cum Laude, Mathematics. He is married and lives in center city Philadelphia with his wife, Emily.

    Matt is a veteran private-money lender with 16 years experience in the industry. As co-funder and CEO of several lending businesses. Matt has orginated and serviced over $50 million of loans for real estate rehabilitation. Matt graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in Education in 1994, then went on to earn his M.S. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000.

  • Carly Markowitz
    Director of Marketing

    Carly is a talented marketing and public relations professional. After spending years on the agency side working with large corporations, Carly is thrilled to bring her expertise to a fast-moving startup. Carly is a yoga master and the Lacoda team's social coordinator. She is passionate about all things Philadelphia, farm shares, and Penn State Football.

  • Hurley Desper
    VP of Loan Servicing

    Hurley, a graduate of Temple University, comes to Lacoda with 14 years in the mortgage arena ranging from origination, processing, underwriting and servicing. Hurley’s recent stint comes with his expertise in loan servicing with Cenlar, FSB a leader in mortgage servicing. Hurley is also a Temple University Football Alumni.

  • Benjamin Petersen
    Software Engineer

    Benjamin is a gifted programmer with a strong background in analysis. Benjamin holds a master's degree in applied mathematics and statistics and has extensive experience with machine learning. Benjamin is a motor-scooter enthusiast, and currently rides a sport Vespa LX 50. He received a B.S. Mathematics from Arizona State University in 2007, and M.S. Applied Mathematics from Georgetown University in 2011.

  • Ankur Saxena
    Software Engineer

    Ankur got started in programming by creating video games when he was in middle school. He went on to study biology at Drexel University before returning to his passion for programming. He is currently focused on artificial neural networks and machine learning. Ankur once rode his bike from Pittsburgh to D.C. and is a master of various martial arts forms. His all time favorite video game is Legend of Zelda.

  • Ben Albertus
    Software Engineer

    Ben loves to learn and apply his learning to difficult problems. Ben studied mathematics and computer science at Temple University and continues to enjoy studying abstract algebra and programming languages. He likes roasting coffee, discovering music, and cycling around the Philadelphia area.
